COLOURS OF 'THE EIGHTH'

The screenplay sets a tense, emotionally charged atmosphere, primarily conveyed through a dialogue-heavy interaction between Shantanu and Meghna. Based on the text, themes of intimacy, conflict, longing, and detachment are central to the narrative. The colour palette is a derivation of the interplay between these emotions.
On a backdrop of earthy browns, The Eighth uses muted colors, such as cold blues and greys, paired with a pop of purple, to symbolize emotional distance, unresolved tension versus passion. And the tones grow darker as the film progresses. Shout out to our DOP @shashankramesh for composing these frames!

WHEN GENERATIVE AI WAS STILL IN INFANCY!

Back in June 2023, when AI tools were still finding their footing and far less refined than they are today, we began experimenting with generative models like DALL·E. One of our early explorations involved outpainting Raja Ravi Varma’s Ganga & Shantanu, extending the original portrait composition into a landscape version.

Even in those early days, when results were often unpredictable and required significant iteration, we saw the immense potential of AI as a creative collaborator. Long before AI-based content creation became commonplace, we were already integrating these emerging technologies into our process—testing, refining, and reimagining how stories and visuals could take shape.
